Chapter 3 New Tools
The first three Chapters of "Web 2.0 new tools, new schools" was very exciting to read. I felt that the objective of the first two chapters was to point out that the use of technology as well as the accessibility of technology is changing. With this change, the way in which the world operates, is also being affected. Due to advances in technology, three world flatteners have been identified such as; processes enhanced by new technology, new ways of working, and a new set of people who have joined the playing field and want to work.
One of the processes enhanced by new technology is the shift that occured in the internet from interactivity to creating and sharing. This event opened the door for the way in which individuals are allowed to communicate, socialize, and share ideas as well as media files. Though this world of technology and socializing is new to many, it is the only life that today’s students know. If we are to compete for their engagement in an effort to prepare them for the non-existing workforce of tomorrow, we must learn how to reach them.
In chapter three, various web tools were explained as well as web addresses were provided in an effort so that individuals would be able to use them
